Dave has over 40 years of experience in forest management. Serving initially as Eastwood’s Director of Forest Carbon, he spearheaded efforts in ecosystems services markets, with a focus on the development, generation and marketing of forest carbon credits. With the continued growth of Eastwood’s forestland portfolio, and with it the need for additional forest operations oversight, Dave has transitioned to Director of Forest Management. He is directly responsible for management of Eastwood’s properties in Ontario, Canada, in addition to retaining some responsibilities for carbon and other climate smart initiatives as a continuing member of the Forest Carbon team.
Prior to employment with Eastwood, he served as Regional Director of Carbon, GIS and Inventory for The Forestland Group following 18 years as their Great Lakes Region Director of Forest Operations, with responsibility for 550,000 acres in Michigan and Ontario, Canada.
Beginning his forestry career in 1986, Dave has also served as Forestry Coordinator and District Manager for International Paper Company where he directed forestry operations on 230,000 acres of forestlands. His experience also includes forestry/wildlife instruction at School of Forestry at Michigan Technological University.
Dave has a BS in Forestry from Michigan Technological University, where he also pursued post-graduate studies in Wildlife Management. He is a Certified Forester with the Society of American Foresters and a member of the Forest Stewards Guild. He currently holds positions on the steering committees of the Northern Forest Birds Network, Forestry for Michigan Birds and the Cross Border Bird Conservation Initiative (Canada/US). He volunteers each spring at Isle Royale National Park, sampling some of their back-country Breeding Bird Survey routes.
